I’m not suggesting it improves the conversion rate of successful installs. What I am suggesting is that it improves the download-to-successful-installation ratio, which, in the end, improves the overall conversion rate download-to-purchase.

Yup, “Advanced options” link label that opens extra config window is the best way to present the advanced options. Opera guys do this that way too.

So far we’ve received only 2 complaints after simplifying the installer, and also some praise, that the updates are now easier.

However, I doubt, that it will increase conversion rate as the installation is forgotten at the time the user consider to buy the software. The *Uninstaller* is much more critical in this regard.

You may also may want to have the option “advanced options” at the front page for those who really want to configure all the details.

We have removed a lot of expert options and guess what. They were first complaining that they cannot configure the program folder, etc.
